Wæm Běs Năs (/bɛs/ /nə̝s/ [random] [hawk]) is a subtropical Town located in Bi-49lchya Ěygæ Zone, Qěwhachy District, within the Federation of Alveria.

The name Wæm Běs Năs is derived from the Constructi language, as Wæm Běs Năs was founded by Gi̊hik Dyesh, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Wæm Běs Năs has a yearly average temperature of 19°C (66°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 13°C (55°F). Wæm Běs Năs receives an average of 216 cm/y (85 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Wæm Běs Năs covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1418 m (4652 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Wæm Běs Năs was founded durring the late 11th century, by Gi̊hik Dyesh. The establishment of Wæm Běs Năs was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Wæm Běs Năs's construction back out of the project. Gi̊hik Dyesh pushed on reguardles, and Wæm Běs Năs was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Wæm Běs Năs was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the late 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Wæm Běs Năs is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Wæm Běs Năs is buildings are arranged arround a network of restrictive packed earth streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks and fences to provide minimal protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The town's somewhat suffishent have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

Right off the bat Wæm Běs Năs hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. This wealth has brought the town nothing but neurosis, if you can believe your eyes. Everyone acts as if you’re out to take a piece of them. Every door is locked and every window barred. Efforts are made to make you feel welcome, but only in the public areas of the town, particularly the market.

Civic Infrastructure

Wæm Běs Năs has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Wæm Běs Năs. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Wæm Běs Năs's parks.

They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Wæm Běs Năs's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Wæm Běs Năs's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..
